![]() ![]() Not all of them are interesting to observe. There are more than 2,000 arches in the Arch National Park. The arches are only shapes due to the erosion of fragile and friable red sandstone. When this hole reaches a diameter of more than three feet (one meter), we refer to it as an "arch". Sometimes a hole is formed in the middle of a rock face. Thermal variations, wind exposure and rainfall cause a strong erosion of the most friable rocks. The altitude in this very arid and desert region varies between 39 feet (12 meters). ![]() It is in the heart of the Colorado Plateau in the state of Utah in the USA. The salmon-colored mineral landscapes are made of red sandstone. It is also famous for its cliffs and buttes shaped by erosion over time. The Arches National Park is world famous for its concentration of natural rock arches. Each time, I experience the same level of excitement, happiness, and joy.
